the Work
My work often includes discarded refuse and organic materials. I look for new possibilities to recreate a formโs previous existence. I explore the interconnectivity and the ecology of the material and look for new opportunities or options for remediation. I take a pragmatic object and recreate it to exhibit a new dimension. In this process of integrating the materials, I look for opportunities that, over time, may cause the pieces to change into a new form. My work references biology, land use, botany, environmental issues, water quality, soil remediation, and plant medicine.
My use of materials mirrors my examination of birth, death, and transformation cycles. My creations are about embracing the flaws of each fragment and turning the imperfections into a beautiful whole that breathes new life. My practice is primarily intuitive, and my source of imagery comes from nature. In creating a piece, I access resources directly from my environment. I strive to create a poetic dialogue between the sculpture and the viewer.
